National Training Package

Work Safely in the Construction Industry underpins the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry, which is a core unit of competency from the nationally accredited CPC08 - Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package

This competency is also known as the WHITE CARD.

The National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work provides guidance to persons working in the general and residential construction sectors.

Completion of the national unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry enables people to work in the building and construction industry, and candidates will achieve a statement of attainment for the unit.

The MARCSTA program conforms with the unit of competency for 'Work Safely in the Construction Industry' and the National Code of Practice for 'Induction for Construction Work'.

New White Card - Work Safely in the Construction Industry

Worksafe has changed the design of the construction induction cards from 'blue' to 'white' as a result of harmonisation of training across all States and Territories. Both cards are accepted by the regulatory authority as evidence that induction training has been completed and no longer have an expiry period.  However, under the National Code of Practice, employers may still require staff to re-sit the course if they have not worked in the industry for more than two years or if the employer considers repeat training is necessary.
